GOP - The Party of Pornography?

Norwegianity had an interesting post titled "The Party of Pornography" about the fact that while an anti-porn crusade in the policy and stump speeches of GOP candidates could be expected to boost evangelical voter turnout, the Republican National Committee has excepted campaign contributions from Nicholas T. Boyias, the owner and CEO of Marina Pacific Distributors, one of the largest producers and distributors of gay porn in the United States...

I have always thought it odd that so many people 'in the industry' have conservative political attitudes and often fail to organize and lobby even with half of the determination of less economically dynamic and socially influential industries. The fact is socially repressive attitude drive the interest in the most hardcore porn, and that socially liberal pornographers tend to stick to vanilla porn. Larry Flynt has written a little bit about this dynamic in the book he wrote before the last election cycle, "Sex, Lies and Politics".

This election, the issue of free speech and other constitutional rights enshrined in the bill of rights are more clearly on the line. It is worth considering the Free Speech Coalition's Congressional Report Card before you vote if you like having the freedom to view porn in the privacy of your own home, on or of the internet.

It is also unfathomable that any producer of smut, or any one employed in the industry in any fashion supports the GOP.

However, the GOP does seem to be full of conflicted individuals, whether they are closeted gay congressman with a penchant for buggering young male patriots, kinky preachers, or war mongers that hate Arabs yet forgive W for his touchy-feely dependence on Prince Bandar for knowledge of foreign affairs and defense policy.
