Hatch calls reporter a whore; Norwegianity skewers MDE; Ear Candy

Mike Hatch called a Forum Communications reporter a whore, which might have been appropriate for a Jesse Ventura style governor, but it is a warning sign about Hatch, who should have been more careful with just days left in the campaign. More disturbing is his assertion about Pawlenty not wanting to debate him on the issues... Hatch was notorious for dodging debates with Lourey during the primary season, and both Hatch and Pawlenty have refused to schedule additional debates that were requested by the Hutchinson campaign.

Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party lieutenant governor candidate appeared to know nothing about E-85 ethanol.

“This governor is afraid to debate me on issues,” said Hatch, the current attorney general who recent polls show is narrowly leading Pawlenty in the governor’s race. “He wants to beat up on a woman.”

Hatch’s anger overflowed during a Thursday morning telephone interview.

A Forum Communications reporter asked Hatch about Dutcher’s knowledge of ethanol and why she wasn’t available to discuss the issue. Hatch abruptly ended the interview with: “You’re nothing more than a Republican whore. Goodbye.” He then hung up.

Television crews following the Duluth native Thursday reported other sharp comments when reporters pressed him for response to Dutcher’s comments.

By Thursday afternoon, Dutcher was fielding interviews about the E-85 issue. E-85 is a fuel blend of 85 percent corn-based ethanol and 15 percent gasoline.[Duluth News Tribune]

It is true that the Forum Communications newspaper cartel is strongly biased towards the GOP. HOwever, unless Hatch is planning to lead like Ventura and Dick Cheney, he needs to do a better job dealing with the media, or ALL DEMOCRATS WILL HAVE TO VOTE FOR HUTCHINSON TO DEFEAT PAWLENTY because Hatch seems determined to defeat himself (again).

Norwegianity provides a shining example of how Republican whores distort meaning by turning typos into lies. This ends MDE's crusade to paint Tim Walz as someone who is trying to pad his resume by counting awards from their youth that weren't issued... even though this one was. Personally, I am more concerned with the kinds of big lies that are being told everyday by Bush and Rumsfeld on Iraq. Or the lie that Wolfowitz was starting to shop around about Aceh, before the tsunami. Or the padded resumes of virtually every Bush appointee. Remember Brownie? Heck of a Job! Or Bernard Kerik? The DFL is apparently doing a better job of vetting its candidates than the Bush administration ever has, and Walz is ready to be in Congress to represent his constituents in MN-01. (I still have to wonder exactly why we annointed Hatch, though).

In his post, Mark Gisleson displays the image of the award in question, that was in fact awarded by the Jaycees, or Jr. Chamber of Commerce.

Ear Candy played again last night at the 331 Club. This is the group that shotgunfreude referred to as Kraftwerk's Harem.

Last night, I recognized who two of them are. One of them I had been thinking about for some weird reason a day or two before, the other one is much better looking than I imagined she might have become.

This time I was able to enjoy Karftwerk's Harem/Ear Candy, the music started later and most of the Drinking Liberally chatter had finished, or had been finished over the top of more mellow, but talented washboard and string bass playing by the Brass Kings.

I hope that "Ear Candy" has lots of success, and that we will see them again. They've got a MySpace account, if someone finds it for me I'll link to it from here, and friend them if they want to be on a friends list with the likes of Erica Campbell. I like them better than the Tin Star Sisters, for what it is worth, but not quite as much as Erica. Maybe some of Ear Candy's songs cold be used in the documentary project. I liked the song about intuition. Who writes those lyrics, I wonder...
