Scooter Libby - CIA leak trial underway

Via Norwegianity: there is liveblogging of the opening statements happening right now on Firedoglake.

It is going to be really interesting to see what else this trial turns up, though it seems that the story of the purposefully misleading case of WMD's in Iraq has been told convincingly, convincingly in a way that is an argument for impeachment, in Hubris (by Isikoff and Corn)

Fitzgerald also has a weird and intense history, and I think that the fact that he has felt burned by leaks in his investigations of possible Al Qaeda finance ops, etc., has set him up as maybe the only person who could have not been disuaded by negative pressure or positive opportunity, to follow this all the way through.

Hopefully we will see some more committed investigations into the the current administration's lies, but the only way to get justice for the top executives (Bush, Cheney, Gonzalez) is the constitutional procedure of impeachment.
