Perseid meteor shower, market collapse

The sky is falling as the financial markets threaten collapse.

This weekend brings the Perseid Meteor Shower and the very close approach to an odd object, 2007 PF2, only 4 lunar distances away. It is a fairly small object but the approach with out fanfare to this asteroid highlights the global threat awareness and coordinated response effort being championed by former Apollo astronaut Rusty Schweickart.

I'll be headed out to the distant Northwoods lakes with a pair of binocular to get a better look at the night sky, without light pollution this weekend. Because of the new moon, viewing should be good, and meteors especially numerous just before dawn.
